Do you want to know the secret of having a beautiful lawn that doesn’t have a lot of problems? There is NO shortcut to anything that is of value but I can promise you that if you replicate what occurs in nature you will experience a higher level of lawn care that you never knew about. The promise of synthetics is quick results and easy success but there are consequences for that ease. Here are 6 things that you must do to change and set the trajectory to a brighter future of less toxicity, less inputs, less water, more color, less weeds and more consistent growth.

  • Get away from salt based synthetic fertilizers! They are destroying the soil.
  • Get a soil test! The tings that you need to identify that are causing you problems are microscopic. You cannot see them with the human eye, you need a microscope!
  • Introduce organic carbon to the soil. The water carrying capacity of the soil will be increased and you will foster an environment for microbiology.
  • Hydrate! Far too many people are watering too frequently and too shallowly. WATER DEEP and lessen evaporation!
  • Introduce beneficial microbiology. These little guys will feed, protect, improve not only the soil but the plant as well.
  • Provide full spectrum nutrition that came from a living source, in other words something that once had DNA, not petro-chemical products that only have a limited amount of nutrients. We do not have a nitrogen shortage we have a carbon deficiency!

In my humble opinion, after 28 years of taking care of grass, I think people are wasting 20-50% of their resources following a flawed system. The system that was started in the 1930’s. Let’s follow the system that was in place before this took place. We have results and well documented results. Unhealthy soils CAN be healed and you can experience a more efficient lawn.
