I wrote a blog a few years ago about this subject matter but it deserves to be revisited as I was just asked the same question. It always goes something like this, “What can I put on my lawn to solve all of my problems?” Well, as you may guess the question is flawed as it is built on the premise that there is one singular activity that you can put all of your hope in that will solve all of your problems immediately. This approach didn’t work with Atomic weapons in WWII and it certainly will not work with resolving the problems in your lawn, more specifically, your soil. Everything that is causing you problems are microscopic in nature and they consist of one or more of the following:

  • Soil Ph
  • Microbial population
  • Calcium and Sulfur ratio
  • Organic Matter and Humus levels
  • Macro & Micro Nutrients

Once you identify these areas with a soil test you can begin to solve the problems you will realize that the Silver Bullet that you were looking for exists in the form of efficiency realized by correcting the dysfunction that exists in the soil.
