Breaking Ground: Our Journey to Biological Fertility
In 2018, I stood at a crossroads. Like many in the green industry, our company relied heavily on synthetic fertilizers to deliver the lush, green lawns customers expected. The results were fast, the products predictable, and the business model was built around recurring treatments. But something didn’t sit right.
We were chasing symptoms, not solving problems.
Each season brought the same issues back: compaction, disease, thatch buildup, stress. The lawns looked green, but the soil underneath was broken. Customers kept paying, but we knew deep down it wasn’t sustainable — for the grass, the planet, or our business.
So in 2018, we decided to experiment. I began studying the soil food web, microbial life, carbon cycles, and how nature fertilizes itself without bags, labels, or synthetic intervention. The more I learned, the more convinced I became: the future of lawn care had to be biological.
That same year, we launched the foundation of what would become our Biological Fertility Program.
We started small. Select customers. Pilot lawns. Side-by-side tests. The transformation was undeniable. Lawns grew deeper roots. Water use dropped. Disease and insect pressure fell away. And best of all — the soils came alive.
By 2020, we had converted fully to biological fertility. No more synthetic crutches. No more high-salt programs. Our approach became soil-first, biology-driven, and system-oriented.
The change was radical.
We stopped selling products and started delivering outcomes. We educated customers, tested soils, corrected imbalances, and used inoculants and carbon-based amendments to restore soil health.
This wasn’t just a product switch. It was a complete transformation of how we operate, think, and serve.
Today, our company is built around the belief that healthy soil is the foundation of everything. We don’t guess. We test. We don’t mask problems. We fix them. And we’re proud to lead a growing movement away from synthetic dependency and toward true regenerative lawn care.
From 2018 to now, our journey has proven one thing: biology always knows best. When you align with nature, you don’t just grow better lawns — you grow a better business, and a better future.
