What is fertility?

The dictionary defines fertility as being fertile; productiveness.

Well that helps us out a lot doesn’t it? All is well right? Not really, not until we understand what is happening to our grass when we rip open a bag of fertilizer and spread it on the lawn. The term fertilizer glosses over a lot of information. Synthetic fertilizers, made form man-made chemicals act like steroids, or methamphetamines as I like to call them use inorganic (without DNA) chemicals to force feed plants unnatural nutrients that cause them to grow. So, everything is good right? This force that is used against the plant, the soil and the microbiology has a negative effect on all of them. In the process of the nutrient uptake the biology is killed off. The microbes are responsible for digesting organic material (grass clippings and thatch). They are responsible for aerating the soil (microbes create natural soil aggregates that form and dissolve every few weeks and in doing so naturally aerate the soil). The fertilizers promote carbon loss in the soil. Carbon is what allows the soil to hold water and is the energy for the biology in the soil. The microbes also provide the immune system of the plant, defending it from pathogenic (disease causing) microbes. The microbes also digest inorganic elements that are unavailable to the plant and feed it to the roots. NOW, there we go!

This is what you are missing when you use inorganic fertilizers. You are left with a thick thatch that impedes water, air and nutrients. A compacted soil that cannot hold water. A lawn with lowered heat and cold tolerance that is susceptible to disease as there are no longer adequate amounts of predatory microbes that will defend the plant from attack. The list of problems goes on and on. What you are essentially is a lawn that requires more resources to maintain and a dependency on human intervention as the countermeasures of the soil have been rendered useless. This translates into a lawn that costs more money and subsequent aggravation and eventual resignation. Our solution to this madness, BIOLOGY!

Our process repairs the soil, restores the macro and micro nutrients and recharges the soil with healthy microbial life that balances the soil and restores the natural process of nutrient flow into the plant via biology from the soil and the atmosphere that creates a healthy, efficient, fertile soil…naturally.
